Mr. Levine has been a successful owner, entrepreneur and innovator in the U.S. energy sector for more than twenty-five years.
A graduate of Bernard Baruch School of Business, Al Levine started on Wall Street as an analyst and, in 1968 at the age of 24, he and colleagues founded Frederick & Company with a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. In 1970, he left the securities business to become portfolio manager for the chairman of INEXCO, a domestic oil company.
In 1973, Mr. Levine launched his own firm to raise capital for other drilling companies. Within a few years, he formed his first limited partnership to drill wells, serving as the managing and operating partner. The company’s wells were developed in the resource-rich Ohio Appalachian Valley, where Mr. Levine gained hands-on experience in all aspects of the oil and gas business including drilling, production, buying, selling, and servicing. Summit Well Services now has over 15,000 acres under lease, and over 200 operating wells.
Still a practicing economist, Al Levine’s strategic and innovative approach to oil and natural gas exploration has consistently delivered excellent returns to investors and proven to be a bulwark against severe industry downturns and financial stress. Summit Well Services is now in a position to expand and exploit extraordinary new investment opportunities in the radically- changing energy sector, particularly the recent discoveries of huge reserves of shale natural gas in the Appalachian Basin of the eastern United States, particularly Marcellus Shale.
